  7. This file contains information you need to install Card Inventory System/2,
  8. and additional information not included in the product documentation.

  21. Card Inventory System/2 Description
  22. -----------------------------------
  23. The Card Inventory System/2 (CIS/2) is an OS/2 application aimed at
  24. assisting users in the protection of the valuable cards that they
  25. typically carry, use, or are otherwise financially or personally
  26. responsible.  It does this by providing:
  27.  
  28.    An easy way to record the cards of interest to the user,
  29.  
  30.    A simple procedure for noting where such cards are located, and
  31.  
  32.    An easy and systematic method that can be used in reporting their
  33.     loss should one or more cards become lost or stolen,
  34.  
  35. There are service companies to which a person may subscribe which, for
  36. a fee, will help protect that person's credit cards.  Should one or
  37. more of these cards become lost or stolen, the service company will
  38. contact the appropriate companies for the user.  The purpose of this
  39. program is to avoid the cost of such a service company, or at a
  40. minimum, supplement this service by giving a user better records about
  41. what cards they have and where these cards are located.

  43. In addition, this program allows the user to more easily keep his 
  44. credit card records current, and it can record valuable cards that
  45. cannot be handled by a card protection service company.
  46.  
  47. CIS/2 will provide essentially the same function as a service company
  48. with the exception that the user must make the telephone call to
  49. report a lost or stolen card.

  51. Card Inventory System/2 Registration
  52. ------------------------------------
  53.    This program is not FREEWARE.  Registration fee is $15 U.S. 
  54.    per copy.

  56.    To register your copy of Card Inventory System/2 and receive 
  57.    your Registration Key, order CIS/2 from RKE Consulting, Inc.,
  58.    or BMT Micro.

  77. Before You Install Card Inventory System/2
  78. ------------------------------------------
  79.    Software Requirements
  80.    ---------------------
  81.     IBM Operating System/2(*) (OS/2) Warp 3.x.

  83.    Hardware Requirements
  84.    ---------------------
  85.     -  A personal computer that runs OS/2 Warp 3.0          
  86.                                                                        
  87.     -  1 MB of fixed disk space above that required by OS/2 
  88.  
  89.     -  A color display with a screen resolution greater than 640x480.

  92. Installing Card Inventory System/2
  93. ----------------------------------
  94.  
  95.     If you have received In CIS/2 on a diskette, skip to step 2.
  96.  
  97.     STEP 1: If you have down-loaded or received CIS/2 as a ZIP file,
  98.     you will need to use the PKZIP(r) software by Pkware, Inc. To
  99.     perform this step, do the following:
  100.  
  101.         A. Obtain a copy PKUNZIP.EXE to unpack the file.  This
  102.            program is readily available on most BBS's and FTP's 
  103.            sites.
  104.  
  105.         B. Make the directory containing the CIS2.ZIP file the
  106.            default directory.  At the OS/2 command prompt, enter the
  107.            command:
  108.  
  109.                    PKUNZIP CIS2nnna.ZIP
  110.  
  111.            Where "nnna" is a suffix.  (This suffix is associated with
  112.            the release of CIS/2.  The higher suffix being the later
  113.            release of the program.)
  114.  
  115.     STEP 2: If installing from diskette, place the distribution 
  116.     diskette in your diskette drive.
  117.  
  118.     STEP 3: At the OS/2 prompt, enter one of the following:
  119.  
  120.         A. If installing from diskette on drive A, enter:
  121.  
  122.                    A:\INSTALL
  123.  
  124.         B. If installing from diskette on drive B, enter:
  125.  
  126.                    B:\INSTALL
  127.   
  128.         C. If installing from a fixed disk (for example, the
  129.            directory where CIS2nnn.ZIP has been "unzipped"), 
  130.            enter the full path to the INSTALL.EXE program.
  131.  
  132.            To illustrate, if the CIS/2 package has been placed
  133.            in the "TEMP" directory on the "C:" drive, enter:
  134.  
  135.                    C:\TEMP\INSTALL
  136.  
  137.     STEP 4: Answer the installation program questions.
  138.  
  139.     STEP 5: When complete, the CIS/2 program icon will appear 
  140.     on your desktop.  (You may move it to any convenient place.)
  141.     Double-clicking the program icon will start CIS/2.  See the
  142.     CIS/2 help introduction, and specifically the section on
  143.     "Getting Started," to begin using CIS/2.

  146. Removing Card Inventory System/2
  147. --------------------------------
  148.     To remove the installation of CIS/2, do the following:
  149.  
  150.     STEP 1: Run the CIS/2 installation procedure and select:
  151.  
  152.         Delete the installed product and re-install
  153.  
  154.     STEP 2: After the deletion is complete, exit the install
  155.     procedure without doing the re-install.
  156.  
  157.     IMPORTANT NOTE:  At this point, the delete procedure has
  158.     removed the product, but it has not erased the databases.
  159.     Therefore, do not not perform the following step if you
  160.     plan to re-install CIS/2.
  161.  
  162.     If you do re-install CIS/2, you will need to re-perform 
  163.     the CIS/2 registration process.
  164.  
  165.     STEP 3: For a permanent removal of CIS/2, including all
  166.     the CIS/2 databases, erase all the remaining files in the 
  167.     CIS/2 directory and deleted the CIS/2 directory.
